Spurs’ Assistant James Borrego Passed Over For Memphis Job

The Memphis Grizzlies fired head coach Dave Joerger on May 7. Three weeks later, the team has finally found their replacement. According to The Vertical, Memphis currently is working toward an agreement with Miami Heat associate coach David Fizdale.

Borrego was the other finalist for the job. Fizdale, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, had a sitdown with Grizzlies owner Robert Pera in San Jose which led the Grizzlies to believe they found their next Head Coach.

What does this mean for Borrego? Borrego is amongst two other finalists for the Houston opening–Philadelphia 76ers Mike D’Antonio and Charlotte Hornets assistant Stephen Silas.
