SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team weathered a barrage of run-and-gun offense by host San Jose State Saturday, dominating the paint and the boards to win its fourth straight road game with an 85-64 victory at The Event Center.
San Jose State (2-6) took 79 total shots in the game, including 43 3-pointers. But the Spartans only shot 30.4 percent (24 for 79), 25.6 from 3-point range (11 for 43). Meanwhile, Saint Mary’s (4-4) scored 52 of its 85 points in the paint and tied a season-high with seven 3-pointers. The Gaels also outrebounded their opponent for the seventh straight time this season, 49-24, including 39-10 on the defensive end.
