MORAGA, Calif. — The 18th ranked Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1997 NCAA Tournament team Saturday against Santa Clara at McKeon Pavilion.
Saint Mary’s will be recognizing this accomplished group of Gaels during halftime of the regular season finale, which tips off at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
The 1996-97 team finished 23-8 overall, and went on to face Wake Forest in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. The Gaels won the West Coast Conference Tournament title that year, and shared the crown during the regular season.
