PISCATAWAY — Like any pitcher who takes the mound, Jon Young strives to not allow a runner to cross the plate.
But his motivation to pitch a scoreless inning is personal.
Fueled by a quest to raise awareness for cancer research, the closer on the Rutgers baseball team has started a fundraising initiative to donate money every time he gets three outs in an inning without yielding a run.
