Exclusive Interview With The Winner Of The World's Most Competitive Fantasy League

The fantasy football season is over, which means the winner of the world's most competitive fantasy football league has been crowned champion. Chat Sports landed an exclusive interview with the king himself, Arnold Syphommarath.

Syphommarath didn't exactly start the season the right away. He was late for the draft.

“I almost forgot about it," Syphommarath says laughing. "I was working a current design issue at the time. So I ended up just auto-drafting.”

Syphommarath would make a brief appearance in the draft.

“I was looking for a way to auto-draft without the rest of the league knowing," Syphommarath says. "I didn’t want to come off looking like a total bum. I planned on entering the draft mid-way through to make a pick or two. The only guy I drafted was Eli Manning. Then I left to get a cliff bar.”

Auto-draft ended up being very kind to Syphommarath. Picking sixth in a 12-team snake draft, he landed Marshawn Lynch, Rob Gronkowski, DeAndre Hopkins and Todd Gurley with four of his first five picks. Syphommarath was happy with his team.

“I knew Marshawn Lynch came off of a great year," Syphommarath said. "I know Eli Manning because he makes those weird faces and his memes are sometimes funny. I see Gronk a lot, so I figure he’d be pretty good.”

He started the year with a win, but was 4-3 after Week 7. Like any legendary fantasy owner, Syphommarath made a few waiver wire moves. The two biggest were Saints WR Willie Snead and Cardinals RB Davis Johnson. Adding Johnson turned out to be the best move he made all year.

Syphommarath finished the year 8-5, thanks to a bit of help.

As the No. 4 seed in the playoffs, Syphommarath easily won his matchup against the No. 5 seed. He then faced off against his advisor, the undefeated "Game of Jones." Syphommarath pulled the upset and advanced to the title game.

Syphommarath ended up winning the championship with ease, thanks to strong games from Johnson, Hopkins and Gurley. For winning the championship, Syphommarath was allowed to chose his prize.

“I wanted something that would represent the gold trophy and holy grail of fantasy," Syphommarath said. "But I couldn’t think of anything. I chose a Twix bar, which has a gold wrapper.”

Syphommarath had some advice for other fantasy owners.

“I’d advise that if you have an NFL guru (in your league), act like you don’t know what you’re doing to get his guard down," Syphommarath said. "Then, have him give you advice and upset him in the second round of the playoffs. Thanks, Tom.”
