Kevin McNamara: Cooley, Hurley say it’s hard to duplicate Golden State’s recipe in college game

Like everyone else in the basketball world, Ed Cooley and Dan Hurley both watched the NBA Finals with keen interest. So did their players and, most importantly, prospective recruits.

Everyone came away impressed with how the Golden State Warriors performed in winning their second NBA title in three seasons. Led by the all-around brilliance of Kevin Durant and the incredible deep shooting of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the Warriors displayed an offensive style that’s sparked many observers to claim that this team’s style could change the way the game is played.

Not so fast. It’s one thing to admire the way the Warriors play but quite another to imitate it at the collegiate level.
