Hull City sweat over Robert Snodgrass as Mike Phelan awaits news over star man's ankle injury

Hull's hopes of a confidence-boosting EFL Cup win at Bristol City on Tuesday night have been dealt a blow as boss Mike Phelan waits to learn the full extent of Robert Snodgrass' ankle injury.

Snodgrass left the KCOM Stadium in a protective boot and on crutches after Saturday's fifth straight Premier League defeat against Stoke and to lose the Scotland international for an extended period would put another dent in Hull's sagging morale.

The winger has had a scan and is a major doubt for his side's fourth round tie at Ashton Gate, while defender Andrew Robertson (calf) was ruled out for two months last week and striker Dieumerci Mbokani is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
