Trail Blazers News: Wesley Matthews ready to "hold down the fort" without LaMarcus Aldridge

The Portland Trail Blazers are entering perhaps the most critical portion of their 2014-15 NBA regular season, forced to pull things together with star LaMarcus Aldridge out 6-8 weeks with a torn thumb ligament and other key injuries to players like Nic Batum and Robin Lopez.

"We've got to hold down the fort," added guard Wesley Matthews, via The Oregonian. "We've got to figure it out. We've got to find ways to win and continue to play basketball the right way."

Head coach Terry Stotts is more concerned with getting the healthy players playing winning basketball with the Blazers having lost five of their last six contests.

"I don't want to get into not having LaMarcus and I don't want to get into having Nic out there," Stotts said after a 90-89 loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday. "Everybody knows what Nic can bring and what LA brings, so we have to figure out different ways of scoring and sometimes different ways of playing."
