Trail Blazers News: Robin Lopez Switches From Hand Cast To Brace, Getting Closer To Return

Portland Trail Blazers big man Robin Lopez's return isn't exactly imminent as he continues to rehab his injured right hand, but all signs point to progress in his recovery.

Per Mike Richman of The Oregonian, "Lopez initially fractured his hand against the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 15 and was given a six to seven week timeline for recovery. He had his hard cast removed earlier this week and is now wearing a soft brace that only covers his hand as opposed to the cast that went up his forearm."

Lopez is excited to be out of the cast.

"I can remove it," Lopez said of the brace. "It allows more flexibility, mobility while still providing a little bit of support."

The talented 26-year-old has traveled with the team during his recovery, and is chomping at the bit to get back on the floor.

"Everyone wants to play," Lopez said, preferring to keep the focus off himself and on the team.
