BERKELEY, Calif. – Portland junior Michail Pervolarakis won two more matches on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships which will be played on Sunday. Teammate Mathieu Garcia won his opening match on Saturday to reach the quarterfinals, but was knocked out in a three-set battle in the afternoon.
Pervolarakis, the tournament's No. 13 seed, knocked off the tournament's No. 8 seed, Jayson Amos of Oregon by a 6-4, 7-5 to reach the semifinals. Pervolarakis earlier in the day beat co-No. 17 seed Bjorn Hoffmann of California 6-3, 6-4. He will next face the tourney's top seed Andre Goransson of Cal on Sunday.
