PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's basketball head coach Terry Porter announced another member of his 2017 recruiting class as Hugh Hogland (Waimanalo, Hawaii/Iolani School) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Pilots as a freshman next season.
Hogland (6-9, 235) is an outstanding athlete that was the 2016 Gatorade State Player of the Year in Hawaii, helped Iolani win two state championships, and was also a member of the USA Youth Volleyball National Team system.
"Hugh is an elite athlete that is very bouncy for his size," Porter said. "He is an excellent shot blocker with good timing on defense and uses his athleticism to rebound outside of his area.
