Berry wins punter competition; Steelers trade Wing to Giants

The Steelers resolved their most competitive position of the preseason when they traded punter Brad Wing to the New York Giants for a conditional seventh-round draft pick next year.

Jordan Berry beat out Wing, who punted last season for the Steelers, his first in the NFL. Both are Australian natives who drew the praise of Mike Tomlin after Thursday night’s final preseason game for how well they have done.

Berry, who last punted at Eastern Kentucky in 2013, was not on an NFL roster last season so he is not considered a rookie. He was recommended to the Steelers by their Hall of Fame center, Dermontti Dawson, who played at Kentucky.
