What’s on the Cards for the Steelers’ Troy Polamalu

On April 10, the strong safety, largely dubbed the “best safety in team history” announced his retirement from the NFL. He was just nine days from his 34th birthday. Now, having finished his 12-year NFL run with 770 tackles, 32 interceptions and three touchdowns, the field is open for Polamalu – so what is next for him?

Hopefully, Polamalu will not follow in the same footsteps as so many NFL players in the past. According to Wyatt Research, 78 per cent of NFL players go bankrupt within five years of retirement. That worrying statistic is largely down to over-spending, short careers and taking bad financial advice.
