Root Sports announced Thursday it will broadcast a network-record 12 Pirates spring training games in March, beginning March 4 with a home game against the Minnesota Twins at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Fla.
The Pirates, coming off a 98-win season in 2015, open Grapefruit League play March 1 with a road game against the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Fla., and end the preseason with an April 2 game against the Cincinnati Reds in Indianapolis.
