Pirates sign left-handers Luebke, O'Flaherty to minor-league deals

The Pirates today signed a pair of veteran left-handers to minor-league deals with invites to major-league spring training, bringing aboard Cory Luebke and Eric O’Flaherty to bolster the organization's pitching depth.

Luebke, who was drafted by the Pirates in the 18th round in 2004 but did not sign, had a 3.86 ERA in seven appearances, three starts, last year between the Class A and Class AAA levels with the San Diego Padres, the team that selected him 61st overall in 2007.

Luebke, 30, has a 3.25 ERA in 55 games, 25 starts, in the majors, all with the Padres between 2010 and 2012.
