ARLINGTON, Texas — For four years, Jeff Banister’s seat was next to Clint Hurdle.
Friday night, for the first time, it was across the diamond from him.
Banister, hired as the Rangers manager in 2015 after four seasons as Hurdle’s bench coach, managed against his former team Friday night for the first time.
“I will get a big kick of looking over at that dugout and seeing him in it,” Hurdle said before the game. “I’ll get a big kick out of it because I’m proud of him, I’m happy for him.
