INDIANAPOLIS - Jason Rogers may soon be leaving the Pirates organization to play in Japan, though, a contract has not yet been officially signed.

A first baseman/designated hitter with Triple-A Indianapolis, Rogers is in negotiations with the Hanshin Tigers of the Central League. Multiple Japanese news outlets have reported Rogers will sign with the club to fill an immediate need.

Rogers was in the Indianapolis lineup for Wednesday’s game, going 4-for-5 with a home run, but the exact date of his departure from the organization, if at all, is unclear.

“We’re in talks, but there’s no full agreement,” Rogers said.
