Cervelli cleared for cardio activities

Cervelli did not sustain a subsequent concussion, Tomczyk said; his symptoms were exacerbated by playing. Cervelli was seen by a group of physicians in Pittsburgh and cleared for some physical activity. He then rejoined the team at PNC Park on Tuesday, when he spent 20 minutes riding a stationary bike.

"What's most important is Francisco's feeling better. What's most important is that he's getting the care that he needs to get at this point in time," Tomczyk said. "We will continue to leave no stone unturned to ensure short- and long-term health for Francisco."

With that in mind, the Pirates are not setting a firm timeline for Cervelli's return to baseball activities.
