A.J. Burnett made his final start in his storied career Saturday night, and the stage was set for a dramatic ending to the season, clinching the Wild Card game at home for the Pirates. They were facing a team that has long been out of contention and has dropped 13 games in a row in the Reds. It seemed like from an emotion standpoint, the Pirates were in the drivers seat, especially in facing a youngster in Brandon Finnegan.
But it wasn't in the cards tonight for the bucs. Burnett pitched well- allowed three runs, but was able to work into the seventh inning.
