Shane Victorino, Who Pirates Reportedly Discussed, Acquired by Angels

Shane Victorino, OF for the Boston Red Sox, was acquired Monday afternoon by the Los Angeles Angels. It was reported Sunday by Trib writer Rob Biertempfel that the veteran outfielder was being talked about by the Pirates, in addition to struggling first baseman Mike Napoli.

Victorino, who is in the last year of his current contract is owed approximately $4.5 million. The Angels have also sent infielder Josh Rutledge to the Sox. Boston will also send cash considerations to the Angels.

The move to acquire Victorino didn't seem to make too much sense in terms of helping the Pirates specific needs.
