Pirates Rumors Roundup: Michael Morse, Antonio Bastardo & Sergio Romo

Michael Morse

The Pirates are still looking for players who can contribute at first base or in the outfield, and Morse is one of the better options available. Pittsburgh has a long way to go to catch the current leaders for Morse - the Orioles and Marlins are believed to be in pole position - but he's definitely on their radar.

Antonio Bastardo

Bastardo checks all the Pirates' boxes: he's in his prime, he's reliable, and he's solid against both right- and left-handed hitters. As Pittsburgh looks to reinforce their bullpen, they'll be taking a hard long look at the Phillies' lefty.

Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly reported the Pirates' interest on Wednesday - things are still at a very early stage, but keep your eye on this one.

Sergio Romo

With Andrew Miller, David Robertson, Pat Neshek and Luke Gregerson off the market, Romo becomes the best option if the Pirates want to improve their bullpen through free agency. We haven't heard anything concrete about Pittsburgh's interest in Romo, but we fully expect them to look into him more carefully over the next few days. Until we hear something more official than 'they know he's out there, and they'll take a look', though, this is nothing to get excited about.
