The Pittsburgh Pirates added two potential cogs on Friday, announcing that they've signed catcher Wilkin Castillo and right-handed pitcher Josh Wall to minor-league contracts with invitations to spring training.
Castillo, 30, originally debuted with the Cincinnati Reds back in 2008, posting a .314 batting average in 22 games over two seasons. He hasn't played in the majors since, and spent last season in the Mexican League where he hit just .206 in 33 games.

The 28-year-old Wall was claimed off waivers by the Pirates last May, spending the majority of the 2014 campaign at Triple-A Indianapolis, where he pitched to a 2.91 ERA in 34 totaly innings. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 2005 amateur draft, but has pitched just 15 games (with a 15.15 ERA) at the major league level.
Adding Wall and Castillo to the mix, the Pirates now have a total of 23 non-roster invitees that are scheduled to join the club for spring training come mid-February in Bradenton, Florida.
