Rutherford has holes to fill at center as free agency approaches

CHICAGO — As the Penguins come out of this weekend’s NHL Draft and prepare for free agency next week, general manager Jim Rutherford’s main priority is the same as it was 72 hours ago.

If anything, it might even be more pressing than it was at the start of the weekend.

The biggest concern Rutherford faces as he assembles the Penguins’ roster for next season is still the team's depth at center. And after trading away Oskar Sundqvist to St. Louis Friday night, they might even have one more hole to fill, too.

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will center the team’s top two lines, but the bottom two spots are still up in the air.
