This should have been the easy part for the Penguins.
Their final game at Consol Energy Center before embarking on a four-game Western road trip was against Edmonton, a team hovering at the bottom of the NHL standings.
A team against which the Penguins were 8-0-2 in their previous 10 meetings.
A team that had won one – count it, one – of seven games before facing the Penguins tonight.
Didn’t work out that way, though, as the Oilers survived a sensational performance by Evgeni Malkin to earn a 3-2 shootout at Consol Energy Center.
