Penguins come back in third period to beat Sharks, 3-2

Through two periods, it looked like the San Jose Sharks might get some revenge for their defeat in the Stanley Cup final last spring.

The third period, though, looked more like the final itself.

The Penguins beat the Sharks, 3-2, at PPG Paints Arena tonight in a rematch of last spring’s Stanley Cup final, which the Penguins won four games to two.

In tonight’s edition, the Penguins needed to rally from a 2-0 third-period deficit to claim the win and bounce back from Tuesday night’s dispiriting 4-0 loss in Montreal.

Patric Hornqvist scored the game-winner at 14:02 of the final period on a scrum in front of the net.
