No Letang in lineup not a death knell for Penguins

When Kris Letang suspended himself from the Penguins’ lineup for Game 4 of this boiling playoff series against the Washington Capitals, all kinds of Old Testament atrocities were said to await the waterfowl.

The defense that was built around Letang, run by Letang, and that had benefited (mostly) from the indiscriminate banging of the beloved Tanger, would in his absence be torn apart at the seams. The Capitals would swarm through the voids like winged crazed predators, the net behind rookie Matt Murray would be filled beyond capacity, stretched at its cords like something on “Deadliest Catch,” and Washington would likely even the series with a 33-0 victory.
