After defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets in five games in round one, the Pittsburgh Penguins waited anxiously to see who they would be facing in the next round–Toronto or Washington?
After a long, intense and overtime-filled series, the Washington Capitals defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games to move on to the second round.
The Penguins first round saw an injury to starting goaltender Matt Murray before game one. As a result, Marc-Andre Fleury came in cold but still held the fort down. The Penguins were able to find many offensive opportunities and won the series four games to one.
