Matt Cullen's night out a special one for Penguins

The excitement in Matt Cullen’s voice was evident whenever he first started talking about playing in his first outdoor game. Back in January. With Saturday's Stadium Series game a long, long way away.

"I love 'em," Cullen said of outdoors games. "I can't wait."

You could call it youthful exuberance, but only one of those terms actually applies to Cullen.

“He might be closer to the dads’ ages than he is to the players’ ages,” coach Mike Sullivan said.

Cullen is 40-years-old, the third-oldest player in the NHL, but he looked like a kid having the time of his life while scoring a goal during the Penguins’ 4-2 win over the Flyers at Heinz Field.
