Conor Sheary and Jake Guentzel haven’t discussed their respective goal-scoring droughts over the past few weeks.
And now there’s nothing left to talk about.
Sheary and Guentzel both scored in the Penguins’ 5-3 win against Nashville in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final Monday night. The goals ended the longest dry spells of both players’ careers: eight games without a goal for Guentzel and 17 for Sheary.
“I don’t think I was aware of that, but it definitely felt like a long time,” Sheary said.
Nearly two months, to be exact. Sheary last scored in the final week of the regular season, April 6 in New Jersey.
