Pittsburgh Penguins: Jim Rutherford and Mike Johnston Reportedly Staying with Team

Amid the flurry of questions that have risen out of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first-round collapse against the New York Rangers has been that of the future of General Manager Jim Rutherford and head coach Mike Johnston.

Both Rutherford and Johnston joined the team prior to this season, and the two had quite a tumultuous first run with the Pens.

While the club certainly fell short this season, both during the regular season and the playoffs, their astounding rash of injuries certainly played a significant role in the subpar play.

That being the case, Penguins CEO David Morehouse recently indicated that Rutherford and Johnston will both be back in Pittsburgh next season with another shot at guiding the Pens.
