Pittsburgh's 3 Most Likely Bowl Opponents

Pitt became bowl eligible after they closed their season with two wins over Syracuse and Miami, finishing with a 6-6 record. The Panthers beat Bowling Green in the Little Caesar’s Bowl last season – who will they end up facing this year?

Utah

There's an off chance that Pitt will end up in the Sun Bowl as it's the furthest west of any game the ACC is slated to play this postseason, and with them having a mediocre record, they might be the odd man out and forced to play in El Paso. That said, they'd face a really good Utah team, who faltered down the stretch after being ranked in the top 15 in the country.

Cincinnati

The Bearcats would provide the Panthers with a good opponent, considering they're playing in a lower-tier game. There is some history between the two sides dating back to the old Big East, creating a matchup that would garner more fan interest. This is a possible matchup for the St. Petersburg Bowl, and one that the bowl's committee will look at closely.

Penn State

This would be a dream matchup for Pitt fans. The in-state rivals last met in 2000, and both fan bases have been chomping at the bit to see their teams get back on the field against each other. There is potential for this matchup in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit, and this is the matchup they're likely circling as what would draw the most interest.
