The Suns finalized head coach Earl Watson’s first full staff, one that reflects his basketball career’s connections, features former NBA head coaches as top assistants and has two ties to Suns great Steve Nash.
Watson’s associate head coach will be Jay Triano, the Canadian men's national team head coach and former Toronto Raptors head coach. Watson lured Triano away from Portland, where he had been the assistant for the past four seasons. Triano coached with the Trail Blazers when Watson played his final NBA season in Portland in 2013-14. That staff included Watson on coaching meetings to prepare him for his career transition.
