LeBron changed Cleveland, but GM Griffin did the rest

The rookie general manager from Phoenix finished runner-up to a body of work again for NBA Executive of the Year.

Last year, first-year Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough's work to give the Suns a 23-win jump put him in second place for the award behind San Antonio's R.C. Buford. The offseason highlight of Buford's work before the 2013-14 season was signing Marco Belinelli, but the Spurs posted the league's best record and Buford had never won the award during the Spurs' dynasty.

This year, Phoenix native David Griffin's work as a rookie Cleveland GM came in second place to Golden State's Bob Myers, who deserves credit for firing Mark Jackson and hiring Steve Kerr to attain the league's best record.
