Fast, offensive and competitive hockey is how Rick Tocchet remembers the Coyotes playing when he skated for them in the late 1990s, and it’s how he’d like to reincarnate the team now that he’s back as head coach.
“I think fans like that kind of hockey around the league that’s exciting,” Tocchet said. “I’m not saying I want 10-0 games, 10-10 games, but you want a brand of hockey that’s exciting. You have to. It’s entertainment, too.”
It’s also a style that could end up complementing the Coyotes’ young core, a group of players who grew up skating that way as they thrived in juniors and international tournaments.
