The Coyotes’ blue line received the most attention during the offseason with five defensemen re-signing and another four joining the mix via trade or free agency.
But a crowded depth chart isn’t discouraging Jakob Chychrun.
Despite being drafted only a few months ago, the 18-year-old is committed to showing he’s ready to debut in the NHL now.
“I want them to see that I can play here next year,” Chychrun said. “I can contribute. That’s my ultimate goal.”
Chychrun has been one of the eye-catchers at the team’s rookie camp; the 16th overall pick oozes poise and combines offensive talent with defensive awareness – a style that no doubt fits in with the way the NHL is trending on the back end.
