Coyotes fall to 1-3 with loss to Islanders

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Coyotes dropped their third straight on the road, wrapping up a back-to-back set with a 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Friday at Barclays Center despite the return of defenseman Michael Stone from ACL/MCL surgery.

While short-handed in the third period, the Islanders broke a 2-2 tie on a one-timer from defenseman Johnny Boychuk after a faceoff win by center Brock Nelson at 4:24. The goal was the second one given up by Arizona’s power play this season – this after it surrendered 14, the second-most in the NHL, last season.

New York converted on its first shot of the game, a wrister from defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, but three goals in a 51-second span wiped the slate clean after one period.
