During his press conference before the Union's match against Columbus Crew SC, Head Coach Jim Curtin said the team didn't get the type of offensive pressure they wanted in the first match against Crew SC, specifically on Columbus's backline. Curtin said the team needs more support on the ball, especially on the wings. If the Union can make life more uncomfortable for the defensive three in the Crew SC's 3-4-3, then the team should have more success.

"In Columbus' new 3-4-3, it's tough to break down," Curtin said. "We didn't do a great job of the the three, the three centerbacks.
