The Philadelphia Union went to Toronto as huge underdogs, and while they started out like a house afire it would not last, ultimately losing their first playoff game in five years to Toronto FC 3-1.

A terrible clearance in the first half by Ken Tribbett lead to a Sebastian Giovionco goal, which put the Reds on the board first. A goal by Jonathan Osorio just after the start of the second half off of a corner kick would add put TFC up 2-0. There was controversy in the 57th when Union felt they should have been awarded a penalty when CJ Sapong was hit in the face in the box by Michael Bradley, but Baldomero Toledo kept the whistle in his pocket.
