While Ryan Howard’s tenure was not as flashy as we’d hope down the stretch, he provided everlasting memories for Phillies fans.
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Phillies will honor Howard in someway prior to the final home game of the season Sunday.
The Phillies tried endlessly to move him, but it never worked out. The team plans to honor him next Sunday in what should be an awkward moment in some respects. Howard is basically being pushed out, and there’s no guarantee his career will resume elsewhere.
There were reports the team would honor both Howard and Carlos Ruiz over the summer, but those plans were cut short after Ruiz was traded to Los Angeles.
