Sandberg's philosophy is simple: “This is Major League Baseball and you have to play good defense”

Last night’s game against the Braves was a reminder of why the two NL East teams are expected to compete for last place. The Phils’ 1-0 victory took on the appearance of a game of, "Who wants to lose more?"

Ignoring the goose eggs on both sides which were likely more the product of two futile offenses than dominant pitching performances, neither team seemed interested in accepting the win. On the Braves side: four errors. On the Phillies side: Cody Asche inexplicably bunting in the eighth inning with a runner on third and one out.

OK, so these are bad teams, but that was already self evident.
