Shayne Gostisbehere says injuries limited him last season

Shayne Gostisbehere certainly was not able to follow up his eye-catching rookie season with an equally impressive sophomore campaign. Ghost’s points per game rate dropped from .719 to .513, and never quite seemed to reach the levels of dynamism he had when he finished 2nd in voting for the Calder trophy.

In an interview with NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman, Gostisbehere claimed that hip and abdominal injuries he suffered and had surgery to fix in May 2016 prevented him from ever getting on track. But the deleterious effects of those injuries didn’t just affect him physically- they hurt him mentally as well.
