Last night, Ivan Provorov and his WHL team the Brandon Wheat Kings were officially eliminated from the Memorial Cup with a 2-1 loss to the Red Deer Rebels. This was revenge for Red Deer, as Brandon beat them in the WHL playoffs. Red Deer, however, got to play in the Memorial Cup as they are hosting the tournament this spring.
With the loss, Philippe Myers and his top-rated Rouyn-Nouranda Huskies are Philadelphia Flyers fans’ main rooting interest remaining in the tournament.
This has to go down as a bit of a disappointment for Brandon. They leave the tournament 0-3, having been outscored 16-5 (most of it coming in a 9-1 trouncing by the London Knights).
