Tom Brady's phoney excuse anything but terrific

WHEN THE NFL asked Tom Brady for his cellphone, he should have just said "no."

The league wanted to examine texts the Patriots quarterback may have sent or received regarding the "Deflategate" scandal that ended with him receiving a four-game suspension for the start of the upcoming season.

Tom Terrific, of course, was under no legal obligation to hand over the phone. He told investigator Ted Wells he had nothing to do with under-inflating footballs used in last season's AFC Championship Game.

As for handing over his phone? Well, darn the luck, it had been destroyed.
