Source: Sixers Will Not Extend Henry Sims A Qualifying Offer

Sims is now a unrestricted free agent.

Free agency kicks off at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, and Philly's begun to make final decisions on some of the team's impending free agents.

The Sixers have informed Henry Sims' camp that he will not be tendered a qualifying offer, a source told Liberty Ballers. Sims will now be an unrestricted free agent.

Declining to extend his $1,181,348 qualifying offer doesn't mean for certain that the team won't eventually sign him, but they are forfeiting their right to first refusal in contract negotiations with other teams. It's hard to imagine there being an aggressive market for the center, but it's not outside of the realm of possibility that Philadelphia revisits talks with him later this summer if no alternative options come through for either party.
