Undefeated Maryland stands between Penn State women's lacrosse and first trip to national championship in 28 years

The Nittany Lions have been here before.

Penn State became acquainted with the bright lights of the national semifinal in 2016 when it fell to eventual-champion North Carolina, 12-11.

But making their second straight trip to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Final Four, the Nittany Lions will encounter a familiar opponent.

The undefeated Maryland Terrapins, a Big Ten conference foe and winners of two of the last three national championships, stand between Penn State and its first title game appeareance since 1989.

The match is set for Friday at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3 from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
