UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Anthony Zettel’s father beamed with pride nearly a year ago while sitting in the family’s restaurant in tiny, 1.48-square-mile West Branch, Mich., talking about his son playing football at Penn State.
Pictures of Terry Zettel’s family, a Penn State poster and a No. 98 decal — representing the number of his son, a Nittany Lions senior defensive tackle — were prominently displayed up front by the cash register. People such as Terry, who lived in this town their entire lives and were proud to do so, shuffled in and out talking about watching Anthony grow up before their eyes.
