Penn State set the bar high.
Heading to South Bend, the Nittany Lions knew they would have to play a tough, complete 60 minutes to have a chance against No. 3 Notre Dame, the highest ranked team they have played in their five seasons as a Division I program.
They played more than a complete 60 minutes. The Lions forced overtimes in both games, the first ending in a tie and the second in a victory for the Lions (2-1-1).
Coach Guy Gadowsky attributed credit to Peyton Jones for the team’s success against the Fighting Irish (3-2-1).
