Penn State men's hockey cruises to 10-3 win in 1st round of NCAA tournament

In its first NCAA tournament game, Penn State scored seven consecutive goals to dominate Union, N.Y., 10-3, as the Nittany Lions win their Midwest Region semifinal at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

The Nittany Lions (25-11-2) tied an NCAA tournament record for goals in a game. Lake Superior State crushed Alaska Anchorage, 10-3, March 17, 1990.

Nate Sucese and Chase Berger scored two goals each, and the Nittany Lions scored five goals in the third period. Penn State’s 10 goals also set a program record.

Union (25-10-3), however, was in the game for much of the first and second period.
