Number 1 seed Denver defeats PSU in the Midwest Region hockey final

The third-seeded and No. 11-ranked Penn State men’s hockey team could not replicate its scoring performance from Saturday in a 6-3 loss to No. 1-seeded Denver Sunday night in the Midwest Region final at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

The Pioneers improve to 31-7-4 and will move on to the Frozen Four in Chicago to take on Notre Dame April 6 at United Center. Penn State sees its record-setting season come to an end at 25-12-2 overall.

Denver opened the scoring as Jarid Lukosevicius received a pass from behind the net and cut across the crease from right to left, finishing with a backhand effort for the 1-0 lead at 3:17 of the first period.
