After two mediocre seasons in Happy Valley, albeit with teams still hampered by NCAA sanctions, Penn State head coach James Franklin guided the Nittany Lions to an 11-3 record last year, a Big Ten title, and a berth in the Rose Bowl.
Not surprisingly, he’s getting rewarded in a big way.
On Friday, Penn State announced the terms of a new contract reached between the head coach and the school. Franklin is now signed through the 2022 season and is due to make 5.8 million a season. The deal is worth a total of 34 million.
The head coach’s original contract with Penn State was due to expire in 2019.
